Cherishlife Home was founded in November 2010 by Madam Lau, who is more commonly and affectionately known as Auntie Winnie. Cherishlife Home has been running for 7 years now thanks to her generosity, compassion and love for animals. The home started with 100 dogs in a small area with only 2 volunteers. Now, there are approximately 200 dogs and 21 cats at the current shelter located in Hulu Langat, Batu 14.
Winnie set up Cherishlife Home with her pension money, courage and determination to make a difference for the lives for the stray dogs and cats. Everyday is a constant uphill battle for her trying to sustain her shelter but not once did giving up ever crossed her mind. Not all of the dogs she rescued are suitable to live in the shelter as some require palliative care and special attention. Some are on special medication and needed round the clock supervision too. Hence, she turned her home into a Rehabilitation and Retirement Centre for the old and sick dogs. Her trainings as a nurse has definitely helped her.
To cut spending and save costs, Winnie accepts donations in the form of building materials, fixtures, fittings and furniture for the shelter but she never compromises on vet care and medication as well as food and safety of her rescued animals. The animals in the shelter are active and healthy all thanks to Winnie’s nurture and care. The home welcome visitors and are extremely loving and affectionate. Despite taking in many animals, Winnie remembers and recognises each and every single dog or cat’s names.
Amelia Lee, an all time favourite, young and passionate child whom is also a child star, also been awarded by the Malaysia Book of Records for being the youngest fashion designer has so much passion, love and care on animals (especially dogs and cats). Her ambition if all permits well is to be a veterinary physician so she can help and serve more to the animals. Amelia, is here together with The Giving Bank, to create awareness and to raise funds for Cherishlife Home. She is planning to raise RM5,000.00 and the donation will be used for purchasing food and medication supplies. The giving ceremony and official visitation is planned for in December 2017.
